Ranchers Play “Irreplaceable Role” in Species Conservation

WASHINGTON (May 6, 2019) – Today Ethan Lane, senior executive director of NCBA Federal Lands and executive director of the Public Lands Council, released the following statement in response to the release of the IPBES Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services:

“In light of today’s report by the U.N., it is important to remember the irreplaceable role that American ranchers play in species conservation. Family ranchers maintain hundreds of millions of acres of large, intact landscapes which many species depend on. Ensuring the continuity and viability of U.S. ranching operations is critical to maintaining vibrant biodiversity in these ecosystems.”
