Canceled Legislative Conference – FAQs

We have decided to cancel our upcoming Public Lands Council Legislative Conference (March 30th and 31st) to adhere to DC Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations regarding large gatherings amid the outbreak of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.  Separately, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association has also decided to cancel its Legislative Conference (April 1st through 3rd).

We know the inconvenience this may cause you, and we are standing by to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions:

  • Will PLC be refunding my registration fees?

PLC will be offering full refunds to event attendees.  Refunds will be automatically credited to attendees without the need for action.  Please contact Allie if your refund is not credited back to your account within three weeks.

  • Do I need to cancel my hotel reservation if I booked it through NCBA’s room block at the Trump Hotel?

Participants who booked hotel reservations through the Trump Hotel International should contact the Reservations Department directly at 202-695-1100 to cancel their reservation as soon as possible. The Trump Hotel has agreed to release all rooms without penalty at this time

Contact your individual lodging providers to cancel your reservation.  Many have amended their cancellation policies in light of the virus outbreak.

  • How do I cancel my flights?

A number of airlines have said they’ll allow re-booking for the next thirty (30) days.  Contact your airline directly for more information.

  • Will Legislative Conference be rescheduled?

PLC officers and staff are currently evaluating next steps and opportunities for virtual meetings and/or rescheduling.  We will send additional information in follow-up communications in the coming days.

  • Why was Legislative Conference canceled?

The safety of our members and other event attendees is our highest priority.  The CDC and DC Health have recommended that large gatherings be cancelled or postponed amid a growing number of COVID-19 cases in the Washington, DC area—including on Capitol Hill.  Additionally, the Sergeants-at-Arms for the U.S. House and Senate announced today that they are closing the U.S. Capitol complex to all visitors until April 1st.  After taking these and many other factors into consideration, PLC leadership felt it was not prudent to proceed with Legislative Conference as planned.
