COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (September 17, 2026) – The Public Lands Council (PLC) closed out their 58th Annual Meeting by announcing Nevada rancher Ron Cerri as the new PLC President. Cerri owns and operates a cow-calf operation in Orovada, Nevada. He has previously served as a member of the PLC Board of Directors, President of Nevada Cattlemen’s Association (NCA), Nevada State Grazing Board Central Committee and as a Humboldt County Commissioner.
“My family came to America from Italy in the 1800s to do one thing: ranch. After generations of ranching, land management and conservation stewardship, it is an honor to be PLC President,” said PLC President and Nevada permittee Ron Cerri. “We have come such a long way in the last few years, where we faced immense uncertainty in the industry. Due to PLC’s work to defend permittees and the multiple use mandate, we are in a much more certain and stronger position today. I am looking forward to continuing this work as PLC President and helping to pass down our ranching lifestyle to future generations.”
The 2026-2027 PLC officer team, approved by the PLC General Voting Delegates, assumed their new roles at the end of this year’s Annual Meeting. Robbie LeValley of Colorado was named Vice President, and Dr. Dave Daley from California was named Secretary. 2024-2026 President Tim Canterbury will remain on the leadership team as Immediate Past President.
“Ron is a tireless advocate for the ranching industry and dedicates so much of his time to improving policies that impact ranchers on the ground throughout the West. His experience in ranching and public service will serve him well as he leads PLC and ranchers into the future,” said PLC Executive Director Kaitlynn Glover. “As we close out the 58th annual convention of public lands ranchers, we head into the next year with strong leadership, clear policy, and unwavering commitment from every western state to the future of grazing in the West.
