Public Lands Ranchers Set to Make Most Of Opportunities At PLC Annual Meeting

WASHINGTON (Sept. 23, 2020) – The Public Lands Council (PLC) today kicked off the 52nd Annual Meeting of public lands ranchers with a new twist – several hundred participants will be meeting virtually over the next two days. The meeting will run through Thursday and features an outstanding lineup of speakers that includes PLC leadership, leading legal experts, and various government agency officials.

In August, PLC leadership announced that registration for the 2020 virtual  Annual Meeting would be free for all participants. This created an excellent opportunity to bring PLC’s message to ranchers across the west who may not have otherwise attended a meeting in person.

“Ranchers are resilient and no matter what, we will always find a way to come together and plan for the future,” said PLC President Bob Skinner. “As the only organization that advocates exclusively on behalf of public lands ranchers, PLC is committed to facilitating these important policy conversations, whether they happen in a conference room, a sale barn, or online,”

Below is a schedule for today’s events, which will feature a policy update from PLC Executive Director, Kaitlynn Glover, as well as a presentation from the U.S. Forest Service. This afternoon, there will be a meeting of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Committee that includes discussion of policy, updates on ongoing legislative and regulatory activities, and discussions about key industry issues like targeted grazing and fuels management.

“Thank you to everyone who registered to join us this year. I am excited to catch up with old friends and make good first impressions on those who may be new to PLC by demonstrating the role PLC plays in the future of public lands ranching.”
